A Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School student was arrested by Bradley police after alledgely making a threat that he was going to bring a weapon to school Thursday.
The boy made the threat Wednesday to fellow students, who then contacted school officials, Bradley Deputy Police Chief Adrian Provost said.
School officials contacted the school resource officer, he said.
In a news release, BBCHS officials said there is no further threat. However, as a precaution, they said there would be an increased police presence throughout the day.
Bradley police said there is no indication of further threats or people involved.
About 7 p.m. Wednesday, police said they were informed of the threat made toward the school intended for Thursday.
After the boy was identified, Bradley officers, assisted by the Bourbonnais Police Department, executed a warrant at the boy’s home in Bourbonnais about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
BBCHS District 307 Superintendent Matt Vosberg said he could not publicly comment on individual students.
“However, we have high standards for students and hold them accountable,” Vosberg responded to a text asking about possible punishment for the student.
