SYCAMORE – If unofficial results hold, Republican incumbent Lori Grubbs, 53, of Sycamore, will have successfully defended her reelection bid for the DeKalb County Circuit Clerk’s Office.
Grubbs sought her second term in the office by facing off against Democrat Tammie Shered, 66, of DeKalb. The circuit clerk oversees record-keeping inside the DeKalb County Courthouse in Sycamore, and helps people navigate the court system for both civil and criminal cases, among other administrative duties.
With 69 out of 69 precincts reporting late Tuesday, Grubbs was in the lead with 27,189 votes, or 58%, compared with Shered’s 18,975 votes, or 41%, according to unofficial results posted by the Dekalb County Clerk and Recorder’s Office.
In a social media post on her campaign page, Grubbs thanked supporters Wednesday.
“Thank you, DeKalb County residents who showed up in record numbers to cast your vote in this election,” Grubbs said. “[I’m] also grateful for the support I received and continue to receive each and every day. [I’m] glad that this election is over and we can all get back to living life. Special thanks to my campaign team: Mary Simons, Colleen Delaney-Mcconnaughay, Christi Hayes Crome, Mary Kay Elliott, Jared Grubbs, Conor Grubbs, Patricia Hartman Hiland, Gary Hiland and Christina Lamphere. A special shoutout to my husband, Jeremy Grubbs. To my dad, Terry Newtson, you have been my biggest fan from the beginning. I look forward to serving DeKalb County for four more years.”
In response to questionnaires from Shaw Local News Network, Grubbs identified implementing more e-records into the office to reduce further costs and expanding efficiency as a priority for her next term. In response to the same question, Shered said the office’s budget would be a priority of hers if elected.
Election results are not certified until two weeks after the election.
