Five years ago Mike McClure made the trip to Princeton to bowl in the Masters for the first time. He’s glad he did. On Sunday, McClure made off with his first Princeton Masters bowling crown, defeating the red-hot rookie Trenton Acuncius 235-216 in the championship game.

Princeton defeated No. 8 Mendota 63-13 on Saturday while the Storm Bureau Valley beat No. 4 Peru. The Lions and Storm will meet in Tuesday’s semifinals at 4 p.m.

Sophomore Chace Sterling led three players in double figures with 19 points to lead the Red Devils to a nonconference victory Saturday in Spring Valley. The BV girls notched 1 68-27 win for Illinois in the IHMVCU Iowa-Illinois Shootout at Wharton Fieldhouse in Moline.

Trailing St. Bede by as many as 16 points in the first half, Woodland's boys basketball team grabbed a three-point lead just before the conclusion of the third quarter and didn’t let it go on its way to a 59-54 Tri-County Conference win.

The Hall boys basketball team outscored Princeton 16-3 to close out the third quarter, ending on an 11-0 run. That proved just the ticket to send the Red Devils to a 52-49 Three Rivers East win.
