Bureau County to host electronics recycling event April 30

Event will be located at the Westfield Township Yard in Cherry

Bureau County will be hosting an electronics recycling event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 30, at the Westfield Township Yard located at 111 West St. in Cherry.

The free collection event is for residents as a result of the Bureau County Board agreeing to the Illinois Electronic Recycling Program for 2022.

Accepted electronic items for recycling include answering machines, adding machines, camcorders, calculators, computers, copiers, cellphones, DVD/VHS players, electronic motors, fax machines, gaming consoles, handheld electronics, iPads, laptops, modems, monitors, pagers, printers, scanners, shredders, smartwatches, stereos, tablets, telephones, TVs and VCRs.

Items that will not be accepted for electronic recycling include microwaves, coffee makers, dehumidifiers, vacuums, air conditioners, smoke detectors, fluorescent bulbs, batteries, toasters, washers, dryers, white goods (refrigerators, freezers, stoves and major home appliances), fans and blenders.

Registration is required. This event is limited to Bureau County residents only, and there is a limit of seven items per dropoff.

The event is subject to end when semi-containers fill to capacity. Oversized loads may be turned away, and the event is not open to businesses.
