This week's Princeton High School summer cross country runs are planned for 8:30 a.m. Monday and Friday to meet in front of the school and on Wednesday at Zearing Park.
The summer football offseason heats up after the Fourth of July. Three of the four Bureau County teams will be under new direction with Patrick Elder taking over as head coach at Bureau Valley, Nick Sterling as new head coach at Hall and Jack Brady the new head coach at St. Bede.
A look at the BCR Female Athletes of the Year from 1994-95 to 2024-25
St. Bede's Lily Bosnich is such a dynamic athlete, she could walk away from a sport she’s excelled at and still have a school year worthy of high all-around athletic achievement, including All-State honors in track and softball. She is the 2024-25 BCR Female Athlete of the Year.
Athletes of the Year and finalists are chosen by a points system for receiving all-conference, all-area, Player of the Year and All-State honors. They are Lily Bosnich, Keighley Davis, Camryn Driscoll, Libby Endress, Caroline Keutzer and Lili McClain.
Quincy Hochstatter rode to an Illinois High School Rodeo pole bender championship. Now, she’ll head off to compete nationally. Hochstatter earned herself a spot on the national rodeo team and will head to Wyoming in July to compete in the largest rodeo in the world.
There was a three-way tie for this week’s Wyaton Hills Ladies Play of the Day for “Most Fives” on Tuesday’s July 1 between Susan Johnson, Nita Wyatt and Mary Cooney.
The Princeton girls basketball team had a neat experience playing at Bradley University Team Camp on Saturday. Also, Jhavon Hayes has resigned after three seasons as PHS head softball coach to become hitting coach for the Illinois State University team at her alma mater.
Noah LaPorte’s legacy speaks for itself. The BCR Athlete of the Year had an encore year to remember, named All-State and unanimous Three Rivers East All-Conference honors in two sports and Player of the Year for the second straight year. He was First-Team All-BCR in three sports.
