Mardi Gras and soul music, artist from ‘The Voice’ on tap at The Venue

The Venue heats up its music stage with added performances in Aurora, including the sounds of Mardi Gras, soul, big band and other genre.

Brother John Kattke will bring the Mardi Gras party to The Venue at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25. He has been involved with the Chicago blues scene for over 20 years, playing with the likes of Buddy Guy, Otis Rush and Koko Taylor. His piano and vocal skills lend themselves to the big sounds of New Orleans, a news release stated. He’ll have his full band out, and Hot Fish 65 will have a special New Orleans themed dish on hand for the party. Premium seating costs $20, general admission $15. All ticket prices increase by $5 at the door.

The Chicago Soul Jazz Collective will return at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26. The CSJC headlined The Venue’s inaugural Jazz Festival last July. They are led by John Fournier and Marques Carroll. Joining them on vocals will be Meagan McNeil, who has been making a name for herself, especially after her riveting performances on television’s “The Voice.” Premium seating costs $20, general admission $15.

The Pete Ellman Jazz Big Band will continue its weekly residency series Tuesday, March 1. The opening set will feature Naperville Central High School musicians, followed by the headliner. General admission costs $5. The series is sponsored by the Fox Valley Music Foundation.
