McHenry Outdoor Theater will end its 2022 season on a spooky note Oct. 28 and 29, with showings of the 1995 family-friendly hit “Casper” and the brand-new final installment of the “Halloween” franchise.

The family-friendly, Halloween-themed event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The 45th annual Cider Fest will return to the McHenry County Historical Society and Museum with demonstrations from skilled artisans, a turn-of-the-century cider press, children’s activities, music and vintage items for sale.

The Geneva Women’s Club Artisan Market will offer seasonal home decor items and treats from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Kane County Fairgrounds, 525 Randall Road, St. Charles.

The Batavia Park District will host Pints by the Pond, a craft beer festival featuring brews from 15 local breweries, from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Peg Bond Center.

An ice cream shop serving up traditional Mexican treats opened this year in Cary.

The festival, which since 2012 has annually attracted large crowds to the park along the east bank of the Fox River just north of the Washington Street (Route 34) bridge, will feature live entertainment, food vendors and beers and brews served up by Illinois-based craft brewers.

The celebration features Nordic culture and heritage with foods, crafts, an ABBA tribute band, vendors and more from Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

Tickets will be $4 a person or $10 a family, cash or check only for each show.

Batavia MainStreet is excited to host Block Party and Taste of Batavia on Sunday, Sept. 4 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Peg Bond Center, with a car show on North River Street until 8 p.m.

Rustic Road Farm in Elburn will provide the featured chef, preparing dinner on site with appetizers from Nobel House Geneva and farm fresh desserts from the Milk House Ice Cream from Pingree Grove.

The event opens at 6 p.m. and features award-winning vocalist Tammi Savoy, American rock and roll band Lance Lipinsky & The Lovers, 80s hits band The Wedding Band and Johnny Lyons singing all of Elvis’ greatest hits just in time to celebrate Elvis Week.

The Congregational United Church of Christ in Campton Hills will host the United Fall Fest from 3 to 10 p.m. Sept. 17, with all proceeds benefitting local charities.

In what is becoming a tradition, the Kane Repertory Theatre will once again bring the works of William Shakespeare to the pavilion at Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles this summer.
