Rock Falls travels to Oregon for a boys basketball match Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023. Rock Falls won 73-42.

McHenry Outdoor Theater will end its 2022 season on a spooky note Oct. 28 and 29, with showings of the 1995 family-friendly hit “Casper” and the brand-new final installment of the “Halloween” franchise.

The family-friendly, Halloween-themed event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The Chicago Woodturners and Windy City Woodturners will be selling donated bowls and other wood turned items at an outdoor pop-up market from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Boardwalk Shops of Batavia.

The 45th annual Cider Fest will return to the McHenry County Historical Society and Museum with demonstrations from skilled artisans, a turn-of-the-century cider press, children’s activities, music and vintage items for sale.

The Geneva Women’s Club Artisan Market will offer seasonal home decor items and treats from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Kane County Fairgrounds, 525 Randall Road, St. Charles.

The Batavia Park District will host Pints by the Pond, a craft beer festival featuring brews from 15 local breweries, from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Peg Bond Center.

An ice cream shop serving up traditional Mexican treats opened this year in Cary.
