CHICAGO – The Bears are back in action Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field.
Both teams enter the afternoon with 1-4 records. The Vikings lost last week in a close matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bears picked up their first win with a victory over the Washington Commanders.
Head coach Matt Eberflus and quarterback Justin Fields are hoping they can keep the offensive mojo going in Week 6. Fields played two of his best games in the past two weeks.

Vikings close out a win over Bears
Following Tyson Bagent’s interception, the Vikings ran out the clock on a win over the Bears, 19-13, on Sunday at Soldier Field. The Bears dropped to 1-5 on the season. The Vikings have now won five consecutive games against the Bears.
Maybe more importantly, the Bears lost quarterback Justin Fields to a hand injury. It’s unclear how long Fields will be out. Fields sat out nearly the entire second half.
Final: Vikings 19, Bears 13.

Bagent throws interception with under 2 minutes remaining
The Bears took over with just under seven minutes remaining in the game, trailing by six points. The offense had a chance to tie up the game and take the lead with an extra point.
Quarterback Tyson Bagent picked up several first downs to keep the chains moving. On first-and-10 at the Minnesota 35-yard line, Bagent threw an interception that was caught by Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. The snap was high on the play, and that could have thrown off the timing. Bagent’s pass had a lot of air under it and resulted in an easy pick for the defense.
The Vikings fumbled on the interception return, but they did recover the fumble. Minnesota took over, leading by six, 19-13.

Bagent scores touchdown
The Bears aren’t out of it yet. Backup QB Tyson Bagent led the offense 77 yards on nine plays and scored a 1-yard touchdown himself on a QB sneak. Along the way, Bagent completed passes of 18 yards and 24 yards to top receiver DJ Moore.
The score cut it to a one-possession game. The Vikings lead, 19-13, with 7:46 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Justin Fields exits game with injury; Vikings score after strip sack fumble
On the first offensive possession after halftime, Bears quarterback Justin Fields took a hard hit and fell on his right arm as he was tossing the ball away for an incompletion. The QB was slow to get up and went to the team’s injury tent holding his right wrist or hand area. After an evaluation in the injury tent, Fields left the Bears’ sideline and went back to the team’s locker room.
On the following offensive possession, backup quarterback Tyson Bagent entered the game for the Bears. Bagent, an undrafted rookie, completed his first NFL pass to receiver Velus Jones Jr.
One play later, though, Vikings safety Josh Metellus knocked the ball loose from Bagent’s grip for a strip sack. Vikings linebacker Jordan Hicks recovered the fumble and returned it 46 yards for a touchdown.
The Vikings extended their lead, 19-6, with 6:44 remaining in the third quarter.
The Bears later classified Fields’ injury as a hand injury. The team has ruled him out for the game.

Vikings score game’s 1st touchdown
Following the Fields interception, the Vikings moved quickly the other direction. Minnesota drove 77 yards in 1:35 of game time to score the game’s first touchdown. Kirk Cousins connected with Jordan Addison on a 10-yard touchdown pass.
Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson blocked the extra point attempt. The Vikings took a lead, 12-6, with just seconds remaining before halftime. The Bears took a knee and let the clock run out on the second quarter.
It was a big momentum swing in the last two minutes before halftime. It looked like the Bears might go in and take the lead, but then Fields threw the interception and the Vikings took it the other way.

Fields throws interception after taking a hit
Following Tremaine Edmunds’ interception for the Bears, quarterback Justin Fields threw an interception after the Vikings created pressure in the pocket. On third-and-2, Fields took a hit and the ball looped high into the air. Vikings linebacker Jordan Hicks came down with the interception.

Eddie Jackson is questionable to return; Tremaine Edmunds catches interception
Bears safety Eddie Jackson is now questionable to return to the game due to a foot injury. Jackson was playing for the first time since Week 2, when he suffered a foot injury in Tampa.
Meanwhile, on the field, linebacker T.J. Edwards disrupted a Kirk Cousins pass when he blitzed and hit the QB’s arm. The ball fluttered out of Cousins’ hand and Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds came down with the interception.

Bears have fumble recovery overturned; Santos makes field goal
The Bears appeared to have a takeaway wiped off the board. Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins threw a backward pass intended for running back Cam Akers. The pass hit the ground and Akers had trouble picking up the live ball. After a few failed attempts, Bears linebacker T.J. Edwards stormed in and grabbed the ball. Edwards tried to stay in bounds – and maybe did – but his toe hit the sideline.
The play was initially ruled a fumble recovery for the Bears. It was later overturned by replay review, though it was a close call either way.
The Bears defense wound up forcing a punt a few plays later.
It led to a 53-yard field goal from Bears kicker Cairo Santos. The Bears pulled even, 6-6, with 3:18 remaining in the second quarter.
Kicker Greg Joseph gives Vikings lead
Vikings kicker Greg Joseph made a 51-yard field goal – his second field goal of the day from more than 50 yards out – to give the Vikings the lead, 6-3, with 8:56 to go in the second quarter.
Vikings receiver K.J. Osborn made two nice catches to keep the drive going. One was a 21-yard gain on a pass from Kirk Cousins. The other was a 12-yard gain on third-and-5.
Cairo Santos ties game with field goal
The Bears drove 71 yards on 14 plays, but couldn’t punch the ball into the end zone. Kicker Cairo Santos made a 22-yard field goal to tie the game, 3-3, early in the second quarter.
The Bears picked up five first downs on the possession and their running game appears to be rolling early.
Bears RG Nate Davis leaves game with injury
Bears right guard Nate Davis left the game with an apparent right leg injury. The injury occurred midway through the first quarter when a Vikings defender hit quarterback Justin Fields moments after Fields released a pass.
Fields and the defender went flying toward the ground and rolled up on Davis’ right leg. Davis went down immediately and appeared to be in pain. The training staff attended to him for several minutes on the field. Davis walked off the field with some help, but he was barely putting any weight on his right leg. He later left the team’s sideline on a cart.
Second-year pro Ja’Tyre Carter entered the game at right guard in place of Davis.
Vikings score first
Vikings kicker Greg Joseph made a 53-yard field goal early in the first quarter to give the Vikings a lead, 3-0.
The Bears received the opening kickoff, but failed to pick up any points on their opening possession. The Bears recorded one first down but were forced to punt.
Minnesota drove 33 yards on nine plays to set up the field goal.
Eddie Jackson will play; Bears inactives announced
The Bears announced their inactive players Sunday morning and safety Eddie Jackson wasn’t on the list. Jackson will likely make his return for the first time since Week 2 against Tampa Bay.
Inactive for the Bears are quarterback Nathan Peterman, running back Roschon Johnson, tackle Aviante Collins, running back Travis Homer and cornerback Terell Smith. Peterman will be the emergency third quarterback if Justin Fields and Tyson Bagent suffer injuries.

What’s the latest injury news?
Bears running back Khalil Herbert will not play in Sunday’s game. Herbert went on injured reserve Friday due to an ankle injury and will miss at least the next four games.
Additionally, running back Roschon Johnson (concussion) and running back Travis Homer (hamstring) will not play Sunday. It will be up to D’Onta Foreman to carry the load at running back for the Bears. The Bears also signed running back Darrynton Evans, who will likely be the backup Sunday.
Eddie Jackson is back and so are cornerbacks Kyler Gordon (hand) and Jaylon Johnson (hamstring), who have both missed several games.
What to expect from the Vikings
The Vikings have won four consecutive games against the Bears. The Vikings just lost star receiver Justin Jefferson for at least four weeks due to a hamstring injury. Minnesota placed Jefferson on IR this week.
In his place, rookie Jordan Addison and veteran K.J. Osborn should be the top two receivers for the Vikings on Sunday.

Can the Bears keep it going?
Justin Fields is coming off the two best passing games of his career. Can he keep it going?
If Fields is going to keep this offensive explosion going, here are three keys to making that happen. Fields has shown an increased confidence when throwing to star receiver DJ Moore. Moore is coming off one of the best games in Bears history for a wide receiver.
Defensively, the Bears could benefit greatly from a return of several veteran starters. Kyler Gordon hasn’t played since Week 1 and Jaylon Johnson hasn’t played since Week 3. The secondary should be at full strength Sunday vs. Minnesota.
