Nick Sterling, who played in the golden era of Hall High School football, playing on three playoff teams in the mid-1990s, including one state champion team and a state runner-up team, has been hired as the Red Devils head coach.

The way the Hall Red Devils have been struggling offensively of late, coach Tom Keegan knew he had to scratch out runs any way he could. He was waving the Red Devils around third base any chance he got. Most of the time they got home safely, sparking Hall for an 8-5 win.

The Princeton tennis team won its own invitational on Saturday, edging Pontiac 10-9. Asa Gartin and Jackson Mason won the No. 1 doubles title while Landon Davis took first at No. 2 singles.

Princeton defeated Belvidere 3-1 to take third-place in the Byron girls soccer tourney. Princeton pounded out 12 hits on the way to a 13-1 baseball win at Mendota. St. Bede starter Alan Spencer pitched St. Bede to a 3-1 win at Rockridge while Hall beat Sherrard 5-1

Ryan Jagers led Princeton's hit parade with a 4 for 6 day and five RBIs in a 22-11 win at Riverdale. Noah LaPorte went 3 for 5 with a homer, double and five RBIs and Will Lott (double, four RBIs) and Jack Oester (RBI) added two hits each. This and more in tonight's roundup

The Bureau Valley softball team played Ridgewood, the defending Class 1A State champion, to a 1-0 loss on Tuesday. Two days later, it was a whole different story when the same two teams met Thursday at Manlius. The Storm had just two hits with eight errors, falling 11-1.

Bureau Valley's Logan Philhower had two hits and two RBIs while striking out nine batters in five innings to pick up an 8-0 win over Galva in a Lincoln Trail Conference crossover at Manlius. Blake Foster also had two hits and two RBIs

Pat Elder has made 18 playoff appearances in 23 years as head coach at four separate schools, including Richmond-Burton, Sherrard and Ridgewood

Seven athletes from Princeton High School were celebrated with a special signing ceremony to commemorate their future college plans Tuesday evening at Prouty Gym. The group signing ceremony, the first held by PHS, was attended by friends, family and teammates.

Princeton senior catcher and leadoff man Ace Christiansen had reached base 12 straight times heading into Monday’s game with nine hits and three walks. To no coincidence, all three games were Tiger wins.
