Morris man faces criminal child sex abuse charges

MORRIS — A 67-year-old Morris man is facing charges for criminal sexual assault of a child after an alleged sexual abuse situation in his hometown.

James Moffitt, 67, of Morris, was charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child on Nov. 7.

A report was made on Nov. 3 alleging a possible sexual abuse situation involving Moffitt that occurred in Morris, according to a news release from Morris Detective Alicia Steffes.

Moffitt was transported to Grundy County jail where his bond was set at $250,000. He is also forbidden from contacting the victim or the victim's family.

His next court date is Nov. 16, according to judici.com.

If convicted of the most serious charge, Moffitt faces six to 30 years in prison.
